Do yourself a favor and teach your dog to sit every time he enters the house. This does two things: 1). It teaches him that he is expected to behave in the house and not just run in, and 2). If you have a towel or rug there, it is going to really help wipe those paws off on a rainy day (or if you have a lab that means everyday is a mud fest!)!
